David came aboard the RedLine team in 2020 as an HPC program analyst supporting several teams in their implementations of NOAA weather forecasting systems on conventional and cloud HPC platforms. Most recently, he works on the NOAA/EMC global workflow team developing and supporting the workflow responsible for running the Global Forecasting System (GFS). His scientific workflow specialties include development, porting, optimization, and modernization.
David’s career started at NASA where he worked across engineering, scientific, software development, and technical disciplines to lead a stable operational environment for satellite-based trace gas retrievals. That wealth of experience combined with his Master’s research work in model implementation prepared him for a rewarding career in workflow development.
In his spare time, David enjoys biking, hiking, camping, and just spending time outdoors. He also enjoys volunteering with local charities to help feed and shelter families and individuals in need.
